About Sedbergh School
Sedbergh is a diverse organisation comprising Sedbergh Senior and Prep Schools; The Mulberry Bush Nursery; Rong Qiao Sedbergh School – our partner school in Fuzhou; a wide range of Easter and Summer short courses; the Old Sedberghian Club for alumni; and the Sedbergh fund-raising Foundation. All share one ethos and the same ambition to provide an outstanding education for boys and girls between the ages of 3 to 19. Our schools are inclusive of pupils of a wide range of ability and talents, and provide a correspondingly broad selection of academic and extra-curricular opportunities to match. There is something for everyone here.
Sedbergh has been a boarding school since 1525, and at the heart of our education lies the pastoral care of our pupils whether they be boarding or day pupils, and no matter how long they are with us. They will meet exceptional teachers, make friends for life, and become part of a community which they may benefit from long after they leave.
We recognise the privilege and the responsibility we have in forging the character of young men and women. Our Houses are the heart of our community and those who run them are exceptional role models committed to the very best pastoral care. All our teachers live in, or close to the School and are keen to share their interests and skills with our pupils. This led to our extra-curricular programme being described as “Exceptional” by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate who wrote that “pupils appreciate the unique setting of the school and come to understand the transformative effect of its natural beauty.
