Post Graduate Gap Assistant

Job Description

Due to continued growth and development, Sedbergh School is now seeking a full time Post Graduate GAP Assistant on a fixed-term basis for 2023/2024 academic year.

This post will be ideally suited to anyone considering teaching as a career, who would like to gain experience in a supportive environment, prior to beginning a PGCE or other teaching training. Working as a teaching assistant in the Senior School will give the experience required to apply for a teacher training qualification and the successful candidate will also be involved in the extra-curricular programme.

Sedbergh is very much accustomed to the training and induction of young staff, with a team of GAs on both sites, and the successful candidate will be carefully guided through their time here. Many of our previous GAs have gone on to successful teaching careers, some even within the School itself!

We are looking for candidates who can contribute to the high quality extra-curricular programme, so a qualification or interest in one of the following would be advantageous:

  •   Sport (rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, running, athletics, S&C)
  •   Music (including accompanying)
  •   Drama/Dance
  •   Outdoor Education
